Weekend sewing.

What’s this??

Top & Back

It’s a finished quilt top and back! Now basting has to happen and on a quilt this big it involves moving furniture in my living room. Not going to be fun but I’m so eager to quilt this one.  Will tackle it soon!

On another note – what do you LA locals think about the idea of starting an modern quilting guild? I was contacted about the idea so I though I’d see if there’s any interest? Let me know what you think!

Happy Monday!

Two enthusiastic thumbs up for the modern quilting guild! I’ve been looking for one–especially on the west side–and the pickins are slim. There are a lot of traditional chapters though…and I think I may feel a bit out of place in those. ;)

I’m down in Costa Mesa/Huntington Beach, but I would be excited for meetings-of-the-modern-minds at a modern guild. I’ve been tempted to join others, but realize that the group might not exactly be what I’m looking for.

I wish I had a Modern Quilting guild in my area. Two days drive to get to your area isn’t going to happen. Love the owl fabric on your quilt.

I wish I had a local place here to support modern quilting. While I don’t mind the traditional style, I would like some support in exploring more modern quilts.

I’m a new quilter and would love to meet fellow modern quilters in the area! The traditional kind just seems so stuffy to me so I’ve stayed away from quilting groups. I’m in Park La Brea.

Hi Alissa! I love your blog and have been following it for several months now. I live in Hollywood and would ABSOLUTELY LEAP at the opportunity to join up with fellow modern quilters. It’s really hard to find a guild/group that is open to different ways of doing things. Like so many of us out there, I have pretty much learned to quilt on my own, but would love to exchange ideas and methods and successes/failures with others…live and in person. Great idea!
