Pot holder swappin’

That’s some of what we did at Monday’s LA Modern Quilt Guild meeting. Here’s the two that I made for the swap:

Pot holders

And check out the one that I got:

Two sided and so cute! You all know that I love me some Lush!!

So much fun to put together really quick projects and then all swap.

We also had another show & tell of our quilts. Something everyone loves and that we’ll keep doing. Here I am very seriously talking about my latest quilt.

We all enjoy these meeting so much. So inspiring and fun to be surrounded by people who are equally as excited about all things quilts as I am! And everyone is so nice and warm. I’m so happy we started the guild! Really, you should start one in your town too! A sister chapter perhaps??

Love the pot holders! What do they measure and what did you “stuff” them with, batting? Your quilts are amazing!

hmmm… i don’t have a blog and haven’t really connected with quilters in my area, but i would LOVE a sister chapter here in chilly michigan! Especially for modern quilting. there are guilds here, but not any modern ones that i’ve found.
how did you go about starting that??
love your stuff, by the way.

The potholders are great. Yes, I love me some Lush also, along with Uptown. *sigh* so hard to get. Where do you hold your meetings? It looks like a fun place. Yay for modern quilting. It has really changed my whole style in the last year.

What a cool idea for a swap!

I heard the quilt guild in my area is huge, so I’m not sure I could handle that. I would love to attend one in a more manageable size like the one you started. Thanks for sharing the show-and-tell photos.

The potholders are all great… did you use warm/natural or insulbright. I was going to try insulbright for a runner (so you could set hot plates on it) but then chickened out since it was a last minute gift and I didn’t have time for a flop.

Wonderful! Makes me happy to see the idea spread. So that people know how we got started… we posted on blogs and on flickr groups. From there we started a Ning.com group and that site has done everything we need it to. It’s easy to plan events and share info on there. Can’t wait to see all the KC Modern Quilt Guild does!

About 4 of us in Austin, Texas have been trying to start at minimum a Modern Quilt Bee. But we can’t find a location to hold it! Every library is booked in the evenings and no store will have us :(

Austinites, please email me anyway, we will find a place eventually!! :) Love the potholders!!
