Action Kivu Fundraiser wrap up

This year together we raised $11357.50 for Action Kivu!! Thank you so much to everyone who supported the fundraiser! We didn’t get to our goal (the numbers are eye opening about the state of blog reading.) but this is money that Action Kivu needs to keep running and we’ve made that happen!! So THANK YOU!

While the fundraiser is now over, Action Kivu always needs your help. You can give on their website.

I’ll be drawing the winners today and emailing them directly. Thanks again for everyone’s support!!

I had a feeling this was happening with blog reading, but haven’t read anything official about it. It’s just one more thing “we” have abbreviated in our lives, isn’t it? I took mine down ages ago, so I’m not one to talk, but it is still a little disappointing I guess. I’m bummed you didn’t meet your goal this year. Here’s to next year! Onward!

Well, that is still a great number although not as high as in the past. I suspect the same thing with blog reading. I think it already peaked and then google reader didn’t help. I still read blogs, and donated after seeing your post but I wonder if IG shouldn’t be utilized more next year. I saw Ashley’s (heather Ross fabric) giveaway and clicked on her #actionkivu hash tag and was surprised to only see a few pics with that tag. I don’t have that many followers, but I know some of your giveaway donors do. I’m happy to help of I can!

I too was suspecting this about blog reading but was also shocked to see the impact this large!
I also had been wondering if instagram is the new blogging?

It’s still a huge amount of money though. Congrats to all involved on a job well done!

Just wondering, if it is a sign of the world’s financial downturn…here in Australia, large companies have been retrenching people, the housing market has been slow, small to medium businesses have been struggling or closing down, and meanwhile living costs are going up.
    Well done with your fundraising.

I’m not really surprised. So many people are hurting locally or know people in their own communities that are having a hard time making ends meet. Also I think there is donor fatigue – fires, flooding, etc. without considering the fact that Toys for Tots has been collecting for 66 years, annually there are several organizations collecting school supplies, soon enough there will be food drives, etc.

I commend you for choosing an organization to support & for getting people to donate prizes or $11,357.

The blogging I think might be a response to all of the blogs that used to be a good read, but are now all about “buy my book/pattern” &/or “Support my sponsor.”
